A master cabinetmaker who works at the boundary where design becomes sculpture, Antrei Hartikainen is based in Fiskars — a village that has been a centre of Finnish craft for two centuries. His award-winning practice spans functional objects, sculpture, and installation, united by a sculptural sensibility and an insistence on natural materials handled with exceptional precision. For Habit Collection, he brings that same sensibility to the floor — translating the textures, forms, and quiet drama of Finnish nature into hand-knotted textile through a collaboration that places craft alongside craft.
Every carpet in the Natural Collection is woven in Asia, with an unbroken hand-knotting tradition stretching back centuries.
Hartikainen’s designs are translated into precise technical drawings, then handed to master artisans whose families have practised this craft for generations. The result is a carpet that carries both inheritances — in equal measure, in every knot.
