Germaine Muller is a Luxembourg-born visual artist who has lived and worked between Italy and Luxembourg since the 1970s. After studying at the Academy of Fine Arts in Naples, she developed a distinctive artistic language that explores the expressive power of colour, gesture, and texture.
At the heart of her practice is an intuitive, material-driven process. Through layered paint, vibrant marks, and tactile surfaces, she transforms inner emotions and perceptions into dynamic visual forms — compositions at once energetic and contemplative, where memory, imagination, and feeling intersect.
Her work has been exhibited in Italy and across Europe, including Luxembourg, Austria, Belgium, Germany, France, Switzerland, and the former Czechoslovakia. In recent years she has also embraced digital media, where the electronic palette has become a new creative playground — the finger replacing the brush without losing the magic of direct contact with the work.
For the first time, Muller now presents artist-designed rugs inspired by her paintings — surfaces to walk on and to experience, born from the meeting of her contemporary vision with the ancient craftsmanship of skilled Asian artisans.
A collection of rugs inspired by the sophisticated interplay of light and shadow created by natural elements such as plants and flowers. Each design is the result of a combination of colour shades that accentuate the realism of every composition and create a three-dimensional effect, lending a distinctive depth to each design.
A collection born where painting meets craft — Germaine Muller's gestural canvases translated into hand-knotted surfaces. Colour as emotion. Texture as memory. Each piece an invitation to bring art into everyday life.
Germaine Muller's debut collection with Habit is currently in development — translating decades of painting into hand-knotted form. Each design will carry the mark of her hand: colour, gesture, and the quiet poetry of a life spent making.
